Adobe Flash Player 10 Now Ready

As of Wednesday Adobe has finally made its Flash Player version 10 available for download. The unusual part is that Adobe released its Windows, Mac, and Linux versions simultaneously. Linux users would normally have to be more patient.

The Flash Player has not undergone many changes since the last announcement of its release candidate. Linux users can download the software off the Adobe webpage. Along with a .deb package for Ubuntu Hardy Heron there is also an .rpm package and a tar.gz archive.

Users should deinstall the previous version first, based on prior experience. The new Flash Player will possibly soon also be installable via the distributions' package manager.

Adobe Flash update available for Linux

Bill Pier Oct 21, 2008 4:39pm GMT

Yeah, the Flash version 10 is now available for Linux,
and doesn't work for me!
I've accepted that the Linux versions of Flash have been
behind the Windoze releases, but at least I could
receive Flash content.
This latest release for Linux isn't even recognized by
my Firefox 2.x browser, (yes I know that FF is now at 3.x,
but FF 2.x is still quite good and viable on older Linux
systems).
Perhaps Adobe should have done a bit more testing with
this Linux release.
